FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-THE PRODUCTION PROCESS?
Each Giclée print is packed and signed by the artist, and ships directly from the artist’s studio.
-WHAT IS GICLÉE PRINT?
Giclee (pronounced Gee’clay) is a French term meaning to spray or squirt, which is how an inkjet printer works. However, it is not the same as a standard desktop inkjet printer, and is much larger and more detailed. Giclee prints can be a little over a meter wide and are printed on high quality archival papers. Giclee is the best way to produce archival reproductions of your fineart and photography.
The intention of giclee printing is to produce a product at a higher quality and with a longer lifespan than a standard desktop inkjet printer.
We use 310 gsm archival paper, the paper boasts an ultra-smooth surface with a completely matte finish.
This quality enhances image detail by eliminating interference from grain, while the super smooth matte surface prevents reflections from any angle. This allows the paper to offer exceptional contrast, depth, and vibrant colors, ensuring exceptional color reproduction and Dmax.
-WHAT IS ARCHIVAL PIGMENT INK?
Archival Pigment Ink for fine art prints ensures longevity through fade resistance, color accuracy, water resistance, acid-free composition, and adherence to conservation standards, preserving the print's quality and colors for generations.
With these inks, you can expect the work to last About 200 years.
-HOW LONG DO ARCHIVAL PRINTS LAST?
Archival prints, when created using high-quality materials and processes such as Archival Pigment Ink and acid-free paper, can last for a remarkably long time. Under proper storage and display conditions (e.g., protection from direct sunlight and humidity), archival prints can last about 200 years in an album, 80 years when displayed behind glass, and 50 years when displayed without glass. Any print exposed to direct UV radiation (i.e., sunlight) will fade more quickly.
